Banner: Frequently Asked Questions

(?) Why do B&B's require prepayment?
(A)
B&B's have a limited number of rooms - not dozens or hundreds as hotels may have.
A picture of Albert's double-bass. If one or two rooms have a last minute cancellation 25%-50% of revenue for that 24 hour period goes away. B&B's cannot easily absorb the lost income from unexpected cancellations.

With a cancellation of some notice we can re-rent the room. But not at the last minute.

(?) Do you offer discounts for extended stays?
(A)
Yes, we offer frequent snoring hours. After Seven Days at full rate your daily fee will be discounted by 10% until your next anniversary date.

Yes we do. There is a separate guest mini-fridge located on the main level where guests can store foods & beverages, or retrieve complimentary chilled beverages.

(?) Is it noisy at the B&B?

Rooms are sanitized before each guest arrives starting with duvet covers right down to the mattress covers. We also use disinfectant wipes on doorknobs etc. After guests check-in we change and freshen your room every 3-4 days. We are always happy to provide a sheet change upon request.

(?) What makes the Musical House, well... musical?
(A)
There were four visible factors, and one invisible one that came together to form the name.
1. Your host, Albert, has played musical professionally for thirty-seven years in many different idioms. Albert has traveled playing music in almost forty countries around the globe - constituting over four years of paid-for travel abroad.
2. Aside from the undulating characteristics of the Spanish Mission style architecture of the home, the front porch trim style appears as two treble clefs laying on their side.
3. The interior "feng shui," that is to say the integrity of the sizes of the spaces and how they fit together, independently incite experiences of harmony and uplifted spirits, which facilites the personal music of the occupants.
4. The B&B faces Harvard Avenue in the old-money district of Roanoke Park at the N end of Capitol Hill.

Hidden Factor: According to a woman who was raised in this house whom we interviewed:
her grandmother's sister was living here working as a professional opera singer right after the depression. She was known throughout the neighborhood for the grace her musical practice periods presented - listened too through open windows on summer days with little city noise to obstruct it.

(?) Why did you recently change your name from Ron to Albert?
(A)
The short answer is: Albert is a more comfortable fit to my temperament"... coupled with a recognition that in our free society "we can still change our name if we want too!"
